Meet Zahra Idrissi

Embodied (trauma) practictionar

My name is Zahra Idrissi. I support clients to resolve painful mental, emotional and relational issues by addressing the root cause in the body-mind connection.

All my studies and my own life journey with emotional and physical suffering have taught me that our body remembers and holds all the answers. And instead of avoiding what is inside, the only way out of suffering is going in and making aware what is still unaware but driving the suffering.

That's why I use the modality of skillfull awarenes-based somatic inquiry in combination with other modalities. Somatic Inquiry , a body-based healing practice, is a specific approach to asking the body questions. Whereas the mind might answer a question with reason and logic, the body answers with physical sensation.

As my clients re-connect mind and body and make the unconscious conscious they naturally and progressively put an end to the suffering state they've depended on for safety since childhood.

I am a certified KI facilitator, Family constellations facilitator and Enneagram coach.

Somatic Inquiry

An approach that involves exploring and processing one's experiences, emotions, and thoughts through the lens of the body and its sensations

Meet Zaha
Why Somatic Inquiry

Why Somatic Inquiry

Many people suffer from trauma that makes them feel unsafe, trapped, suffer and living an unfulfilled life don’t receive the quality treatment they need to live a self-actualized life. Through an overemphasis on verbal processing and coping skill acquisition, patients can feel trapped in a vortex of symptom management – wondering if they’ll ever actually live a life.

Somatic inquiry is a way to explore our conscious and unconscious beliefs about ourselves and others. In somatic inquiry, I facilitate and encourage my clients to pay attention and face their bodily sensations, feelings and thoughts connected to those bodily sensations.

Here’s a simple example:

“What happens when you think of a time where important people let you down?”

Mind answer: “I don’t care”

Body answer: “My throat is tightening up, and I feel an aching in my stomach.”

“What does that energy says”

Body answer: “I’m angry with them”

“Can you express that anger”

Body answer: “No, I won’t be a good boy”

The difference is that with a mind answer, we eventually reach a ceiling of insight where we can no longer add to the meaning that we’ve already made from an experience. When insight alone is no longer fruitful in changing our emotional or behavioral reactions, then that’s an indicator that our mind answer is in misalignment with our body answer. By listening to the body, we get deeper answers than what we can get from the mind alone.

We realise that instead of feeling certain emotions, we developed repression programming that includes belief systems, thoughts, and identities as an intricate way to avoid accessing, feeling, and moving those repressed emotions in the body, hindering our authentic, free self-expression. This often happens during childhood as innocent strategies to stay safe, get approval, or get love.

The Kiloby Inquiries (KI) that I use is a system of tools and inquiry techniques that are designed to work somatically with body sensations, emotions and thoughts.  The process was developed by Scott Kiloby, Dan McLintock and the team of facilitators.

KI tools differ from traditional mindfulness in that they are designed to go deeper, helping to uncover the root of the story or programming that keeps us suffering. With roots in eastern philosophies of Vedanta (non-duality) but applied in a modern context it becomes available to most.  KI use a foundation of "natural rest"  or presence/awareness and "inquiry" to explore and deconstruct deficiency stories, core beliefs and stored physical and emotional pain by unraveling the ‘velcro’ of thoughts (words and pictures) and body energies (sensations and emotions) that create identification and other limiting or unhealthy, inaccurate perceptions about ourselves, others and our lives often leading us to suffering.

My clients learn to not avoid or repress the thoughts, emotions and sensations that arise—but simply feel them through and not identify with them.

Why embodied enneagram coaching

Why embodied enneagram coaching

The Enneagram offers a unique model of nine ways of being in the world. It is a key that opens the door to a deep understanding of yourself and the patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting.

9 Ways of Viewing The World

One – Idealist

The Rational, Idealistic Type: Principled, Purposeful, Self-Controlled, and Perfectionistic

Two – Promoter

The Caring, Interpersonal Type: Demonstrative, Generous, People-Pleasing, and Possessive

Three – Performer

The Success-Oriented, Pragmatic Type: Adaptive, Excelling, Driven, and Image-Conscious

Four – Creator

The Sensitive, Withdrawn Type: Expressive, Dramatic, Self-Absorbed, and Temperamental

Five – Thinker

The Intense, Cerebral Type: Perceptive, Innovative, Secretive, and Isolated

Six – Loyalist

The Committed, Security-Oriented Type: Engaging, Responsible, Anxious, and Suspicious

Seven – Optimist

The Busy, Fun-Loving Type: Spontaneous, Versatile, Distractible, and Scattered

Eight – Asserter

The Powerful, Dominating Type: Self-Confident, Decisive, Willful, and Confrontational

Nine – Mediator

The Easygoing, Self-Effacing Type: Receptive, Reassuring, Agreeable, and Complacent

I use  the Enneagram and it’s 9 personality styles complementary to Somatic Inquiry, so that it takes into account the relationship between personality and the physical body.

For example, individuals with a somatic signature associated with the Enneagram Type Eight may experience physical tension and discomfort in their chest, reflecting their tendency towards aggression and domination. By becoming aware of this physical manifestation, individuals can work to address these tendencies and process not only the anger that is in the body but with skillfull inquiry we can get to  the repressed hurt or vulnerability that they are scared to feel so they can develop healthier, more compassionate ways of relating to oneself and others.

Release sabotaging beliefs and repressed emotions

Reveal, release and heal layers of conditioning, sabotaging inner narrative, limiting beliefs, emotions and stress built up and stuck in your body.

What repressed emotions are causing your suffering?

Many people aren't sure that they even have repression or what this means for them in their lives.

In this video,Scott Kiloby guides you through an experiential process to verify whether and what emotions you repress. I help you see the programming that prevents you from accessing the repressed emotions. The same programming provides the lens through which you look into the world, producing the suffering you see in your life.

Is it a therapy?

The somatic inquiry I provide is not a therapeutic modality but a spiritual practice. Based on our experience. I use the modality Natural Recovery from Suffering, and that is exactly what happens organically when we skillfully bring into conscious awareness the somatic programs that keep certain emotions repressed in the body. I do not offer treatments or diagnoses.

Testimonials

"Zahra facilitated me to meet my deepest fears in a way that the old energy could finally be held and met, which felt like a huge relief. She knows how to bring yo to the places you have always avoided, becase she met everything so deeply in herself. She is very thorough and at the same time brings a lightness to the sessions. She knows that the only way out is through. She works with a sword of love. On a deep level she shows yo the illusion of what you always believed. I felt a deep permission to meet the most excluded parts and by that by that come to a place of more and more freedom."
